Movemnt joins OPDA on mission to speed up homebuying

Movemnt has joined the Open Property Data Association (OPDA) to support its mission to speed up homebuying by sharing digital property information across the home transaction.

Movemnt is part of the Houseful family of brands which includes leading property website Zoopla, estate agent software Alto, new homes software Yourkeys and Hometrack, a leading provider of automated valuations and property insights.

A national home transaction infrastructure for all property professionals, Movemnt is the latest of several organisations to join OPDA recently. These include major mortgage lenders such as NatWest Group, HSBC and Nationwide which joined this summer and Lloyds Banking Group that joined in March. Other members include Atom bank, PEXA, and Coadjute.

Since it launched last year, OPDA has delivered open property data standards and models for trustable and shareable data. The free and open-source tools have been created and tested in collaboration across every sector across the property industry. Those using its data standards for digital property packs have seen time reduced from mortgage offer and purchase accepted to exchange of contracts within 15 days.

The first organisation of its kind, OPDA is calling on the Government to deliver digitised property data at source. It is also asking for more clarity for the industry on executing a fully digital home buying market.

This month, OPDA unveiled a new research project to discover what buyers think should be done to improve homebuying in the UK. It has issued a survey through over 30 of its member firms to cover thousands of existing and potential homebuyers. To participate in the survey, visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OPDA2024.

Movemnt will be joining OPDA’s working groups, focussing on standardising property data. Houseful and OPDA are also exploring opportunities to work with other Houseful brands such as Hometrack.

Owen Rogers, Director of Product at Movemnt, said: “OPDA aligns closely with our own ambition at Movemnt to speed up the property purchasing journey. Our membership is an important part of our commitment to improving all parts of homebuying for all stakeholders including estate agents, conveyancers and consumers. We’re looking forward to collaborating with OPDA to help build the digital standard for property transactions.”

Maria Harris, Chair of OPDA, said: “Movemnt very much reflects our values at OPDA and its work is clearly complementary. Owen and his team recognise the importance of open data standards in digitising property transactions. Along with work by our lender and other members, Movemnt will help us to transform what is currently a poor customer experience of the homebuying process.”
